Empower HER: Celebrating Women in Contemporary Art

Celebrating Women through Women-Inspired Artworks Artistic Inspiration-Muse in the realm of creation has predominantly referred to women. For centuries, the artist’s mother, lover, sister, or admired-being had been a tremendous source of inspiration. This section highlights the presence of Muse in the current day’s climate. As we become more aware of social constructs, concepting a women-inspired work can be a tough nut to crack, especially since there is not enough medium and representation that can capture their entire essence. Which brought us to the question, How do one depicts women in the most sincere and genuine way as their presence in their life? In depicting women, we don’t want to reduce someone to their beauty, or a certain beauty standard in general, this sub-curatorial shall explore more of women’s stories, through contemporary media and today’s perspective. “EmpowerHer: Celebrating Women in Contemporary Art” exhibition commenced as a way to pay tribute to women’s empowerment, as well as forging a support system and discussion forum for women’s artists and emerging artists in general. Through this exhibition, we invite viewers to delve into a whole new narrative, to gain new perspectives and engulf ourselves with the rich and diverse spectrum that is women’s stories.
